(Getting the legal system to meet your needs)

The Indigenous Women’s Legal Program WLSNSW is conducting workshops around NSW to provide an opportunity for Aboriginal women to discuss police and legal support for those who have experienced family violence. These workshop will provide practical tips and information to lessen the gap between legal rights and human rights. Everyone has the right to be safe but it doesn't always feel like that. This will be an interactive workshop around what does and doesn't work in stopping family violence.

We will discuss:

  • What are the issues around family violence for Aboriginal women?
  • Who do you have a legal right to expect help from?
  • What do you do when the system doesn't work for you?

What problems do you have with AVO's.

  • Recording and reporting AVO breaches.
  • How to use the Breach Diary and Card.

We facilitate partnerships with Aboriginal women and non Aboriginal service providers to advocate for local change with ongoing support from IWLP/WLSNSW.
