Indigenous Women's Program

The aim of the Indigenous Women's Program (IWP) is to provide services that best meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.

In 1995, the Women's Legal Resources Centre consulted with Aboriginal women to develop a relevant and responsive program.

The Indigenous Women's Program is staffed by Aboriginal women and offers free services including:

  • Free legal advice from solicitors via the Indigenous Women's Legal Contact Line
  • Assistance in finding a lawyer
  • Training and community workshops
  • General resources and information
  • Face-to-face advice from solicitors through Outreach Services
  • Community Legal Education across NSW

Women's Legal Services NSW receives valuable feedback from the Aboriginal Women's Consultation Group (AWCG), to ensure that all services are delivered in a respectful and culturally appropriate manner.
